MANY TIMES, we as cyclists take it for granted that whenever we jump on our bikes, we will always make it back home. The truth is, it is always a 50/50 chance, and yesterday’s tragedy was proof.

The world and cycling community at large lost a young, talented racer after he crashed at the Tour of Poland. Bjorg Lambretch was a twenty-two-year-old cyclist riding for the Lotto Soudal Team. Based on his previous accomplishments at earlier races, his future in competitive biking was almost cast in stone.

He certainly had dreams like you and me, and he most definitely loved getting on his bike.

So whenever you take out your bike for a spin (be it training, a race, or even a casual ride), remember to give thanks each time you make it back, even if it is to the stars.

Rest in peace, brother, and I do hope that you will still win Major World Tours where it is that you have gone.✌️
